In frosty, post-WWII Siberia, 1,200 Russian scientists were busy cataloging the nutritional value of 4,000 plants. Their mission was to create a natural formula that would help their elite athletes, cosmonauts and ballerinas become the best in the world.
Dr. Nicholai Lazarov, the lead scientist, discovered a category of plant that would rock the very foundation of herbal medicine. These plants had the unique ability to thrive in the very harshest environments. They create a homeostasis, or internal balance, that allow them to adapt to changing climates. Dr. Lazarov called these ten plants “adaptogens”.
Starting in the 1950′s, adaptogen blends were given to factory workers in controlled studies. The results confirmed what Dr. Lazarov suspected: adaptogens created an equilibrium, or balance, within human cell, which allows them to adjust to stress. People who took adaptogens experienced tremendous and varied health benefits.
For instance, one factory was selected for a study because there was an absentee problem with their truck drivers. After the drivers were given adaptogens for several months, scientists were amazed to discover that absentee rates dropped by an astounding 92.5%!
Russian athletes were also given adaptogens in the 1970′s and 1980′s, when they dominated the Olympic games. Rumors swirled about steroid use – in fact it was adaptogens that helped to improve their athletic performance. The athletes were able to adjust to the stress of high level competition, allowing their bodies to perform at their best.

Years later, Western science discovered the varied and amazing results of adaptogen therapies.
Our Scientists discovered that if they were placed in an aloe base, the health-enhancing properties of adaptogens would reach the body faster and more completely. Add to that the immune-strengthening powers of Green Tea Extract, RESTORE – a super-nutritional formula that helps restore wellness by repairing our bodies at the cellular level!
There are four types of stress that can affect us daily, and it’s important to be aware of the damage stress can cause to our bodies.
Four daily stressors:
| Mental: This type of stress can relate to work schedules, school assignments, finances or having too much on your plate and feeling like you can’t accomplish it all. | ||||
| Physical: You can put your body through a lot of physical stress without realizing it. Gardening, hiking, moving heavy objects, exercising more than you are used to – these are all examples of ways you can put stress on your body. | ||||
| Emotional: Common issues in your relationships can add to your stress. When you argue with your significant other, or your children; when you care for a loved one who is sick, or when you mourn the loss of someone very close to you – these situations can impact you deeply, and cause emotional stress. | ||||
| Environmental: The environment alone can cause stress on your body. The air, water, and food supply often contain toxins that can wreak havoc on your body. These toxins are stressors that can cause your body systems to shut down. |
If our muscles tense, adaptogens help them relax. If our blood pressure rises or heart races, adaptogens help normalize them.
Stress creates a physical reaction within the body that often makes us feel bad. Repeated stress will eventually lead to physical damage to our body systems.
Adaptogens help our bodies counteract the physical effects of stress by adjusting to our bodies’ unique reactions. If our muscles tense, adaptogens help them relax. If our blood pressure rises or heart races, adaptogens help normalize them. When we take adaptogens, they help our bodies reach a state of homeostasis or internal balance.
In EPXBody RESTORE, the effects of adaptogens and minerals are enhanced with aloe vera’s outstanding nutritional delivery system and Green Tea antioxidant free radical-fighting properties.
The full effect of adaptogens isn’t yet known.
Early trials showed remarkable health-building effects in people at various health stages. Reports include improved athletic performance to relief of chronic back pain. Most report a calm sensation that improves focus, or simply feeling better.

By their very nature, adaptogens adjust our bodies to keep them in balance… all the time. When they’re not helping our bodies to adapt to a physical reaction to stress, how well do they work?
Preliminary reports suggest that whatever we’re trying to accomplish, adaptogens will help us perform better. Whether we’re riding a bike, reading a book, or enjoying the company of loved ones, adaptogens will give us the nutrients to reach our maximum potential.
